A Better Headline for Your Home Services Website

If your website headline says any version of the following, you’re confusing your customers.

  • “(City)’s Trusted (service provided)”
  • “Your Trusted (city)(service provided)”
  • “Number One (service provided) in (city)”

Stop Blending in With Your Competition

Click through a dozen home services websites and you’ll run into variations of this several times.

You might think it’s clear. “We provide a specific service in a specific city!”

BUT…

If EVERYONE is saying the same thing, your customers are burning too many calories trying to figure out which company to hire.

Different Gets Remembered

The confusion comes in trying to understand what makes you different or a better choice.

You can still include your city and service type, but try this instead.

A Simple Way to Make Your Website Header Stand Out From Your Competition

Put what you do in a smaller font above your headline and make it an H1 heading.

“Indianapolis Mold Remediation”

Then, in a larger font as an H2, use a tagline that hits directly on the problem you solve or your customer’s aspiration.

“Ensuring your home is safe and healthy after water damage disrupts your life.”
“Accidents happen. We restore your home to better than before.”
“We eliminate mold from your home so you never worry about your family’s health.”

Let Your Customers Validate Your Authority

The thing is, no one believes YOU when you say that YOU are “Indianapolis’s trusted XYZ.” When you lead with “Indianapolis’s Trusted…” you’re asking people to take your word for it.

They won’t.

Let your customer testimonials and case studies make that point.

Focus on the problem your customers have and how they feel about it, rather than your authority in the space.

You’ll stand out from the 15 other “trusted” providers in your area.

Then, down the page a ways, you can position yourself as an authority using your customers’ words, certifications, case studies, and anything else that objectively shows your authority in your space.
